Police Officer Dies (2nd degree black belt Jimmy Namora - ITFPNG)
THE National Police Force Has Lost A Prominent Senior Officer (Post Courier)
May 7, 2018
THE national police force has lost a prominent senior officer.
Special services director (SSD) Jim Namora passed away on Saturday morning after collapsing at his home.
Shocked senior officers were at his home on Saturday after receiving the news, including NCD Metropolitan superintendent Perou N’Dranou who said no details had been given on Mr Namora’s passing.
Police Minister Jelta Wong released a brief statement saying that the loss of the director was a loss to the constabulary and had shocked many in the police force.
“It is with great sadness that I was informed of the passing of chief superintendent Jim Namora, director of SSD, whose passing was quite sudden,” Mr Wong said.
Mr Wong said Mr Namora was a career decorated officer who has held various positions within the constabulary. “He was a much disciplined officer who displayed the quality of the constabulary, he will be missed,” Mr Wong said.
Mr Namora made his way through the ranks and had served as Madang police station commander before taking up the post of provincial police commander in West New Britain.
Under the 2017 transfer directive by Police Commissioner Gari Baki, Mr Namora took up the post of SSD director.
He was working on plans to improve security for APEC Leaders’ Summit in November by the SSD when he passed away.
The late director is from Madang Province.
